Biography | Jordan Steele Photography

	Biography My name is Jordan Steele. I have been serious about photography for about four years now, and every time I go out to shoot, I learn something more about this wonderful craft. I grew up in the Akron / Canton, Ohio area, and went to college at Cornell University, where I earned a BS in Electrical Engineering in 2001. I lived in southwest Germany for over three years, which allowed me to travel Europe and see so many wonderful things. In May 2006, I moved back to the United States and settled in Columbus, Ohio, where I'm working as a mechanical engineer. I am married to my wonderful wife, Rachel, and we have a beautiful daughter. Equipment / Photo Recognition My primary camera is the Canon EOS 30D; lenses are the Canon 28mm f/1.8 USM, Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM, Canon 100mm f/2 USM, Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS USM, Carl Zeiss (C/Y) 50mm f/1.7 Planar T, Carl Zeiss (C/Y) 85mm f/2.8 Sonnar T, Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 AT-X Fisheye, Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X Pro, Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II, and the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro HSM. I use a Manfrotto 3021BPro tripod with a Manfrotto 488 ball head + Kirk Arca Swiss clamp, the Sigma EF-500 DG Super flashgun, a Kenko 1.4x 300DG Pro Teleconverter, and Kenko extension tubes for macro. I also own a Canon Powershot G9 for when I don't feel like lugging around my SLR. Many of the shots on this site were taken with my first DSLR, a Canon Digital Rebel, which has since been retired for my 30D. Past lenses that have been used in images on this site are the Canon 50mm f/1.8 II, Canon 135mm f/2L, Canon 80-200mm f/2.8L, PC-Nikkor 35mm f/2.8, Sigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro, Sigma 70-300mm APO, and the Sigma 18-125mm DC. Four times, I have been named a finalist in the BetterPhoto.com monthly photo contest, and was named the First Place Winner of the Special Effects category in the July, 2005 contest. This highly competitive contest features an average of over 15,000 submissions each month. My finalist photos are: Gaudi Light (Barcelona, Spain), Window Light (Hillerod, Denmark), and Climbing the Mountain (macro). My winning photo was that of Tivoli Gardens (Copenhagen, Denmark).
